The City of Swift Current has entered into a contract with the Comm Centre for the supply and installation of an Emergency Service Radio System for the Fire Department.

Swift Current's Deputy Fire Chief Denis Pilon says the system will allow for better communication for all areas of the Fire Department, saying it's a new digital system with lots of capabilities for communicating between the trucks and the firefighters.  He adds that they will be able to talk to the Rural Fire Department, as well as City Public Works, EMS, and other surrounding fire departments on the same system.

The value of the contract is $132,000, and Pilon says the Fire Department hopes to have it in use by February.
