Earth Hour happens tonight in cities across the globe, including Swift Current.

The City announced they will be supporting Earth Hour from 8:30 to 9:30 tonight by turning off all non-essential lighting for the hour to raise awareness and take action on climate change. They're also encouraging residents and businesses to do the same, adding that "we all have a part to play when it comes to environment issues".

They add regular programming at their facilities will not be interrupted and public safety will not be jeopardized.

Earth Hour 2010 was the biggest Earth Hour ever, reaching 1.3 billion people around the world, including 10 million Canadians.
