The City of Swift Current's Light and Power Department is continuing to picket outside City Hall after contract talks broke down last week.

Chief Administrative Officer with the city, Matt Noble says the city has implemented a contingency plan which includes a number of backup workers arriving over the past few days in order to help ensure that services continue to run as smoothly as possible.

Noble adds that there is no end in sight to the dispute in the near future, as both sides currently sit at a standstill.

The workers, who are represented by the IBEW, are seeking wages on par with SaskPower workers, and have been off the job since last Friday.
