It was back on September 23 that the second-degree murder trial of Collin Perrault began.

Over 11 days, several witnesses were called to testify, and evidence was presented to the jury of 12. All of the hours for the Crown and defence in presenting their case cumulated in a three-hour deliberation, in which the jury found Perrault guilty of second-degree murder.

Perrault will serve a life sentence and won't be eligible to apply for parole for 13 years. He also has to provide a DNA sample and received a firearms prohibition.

Before the sentence was made, Perrault gave what would be his final words before being sent to prison. Perrault apologized to the family of Logan Ring, and stated "it never should have happened."

He is the fourth person charged in the death of Logan Ring.

Rebecca Kuhlman was sentenced to eight years in jail for manslaughter last September, Todd Donaldson also received an eight-year sentence for manslaughter in February 2019, and Tanisha Perrault was sentenced in April of this year. She entered a guilty plea to accessory after the fact of murder, and received a two-year sentence.

The judge, defence, and Crown all thanked the jury for their duty and the tireless hours they spent being involved in the trial.

There is currently a publication ban regarding all evidence brought up in court until all matters are completed.

The case of Logan Ring isn't completed yet, as Jolene Epp will be in court on November 15 in the Court of Queen's Bench.
