Starting January 1st, STC will be cutting some of their bus service across Saskatchewan, and a number of people are hoping the transportation company changes it's mind.

STC says ridership numbers are down in certain areas. As a result routes including Regina to Lanigan, Eastend to Swift Current and Swift Current to Mossbank will be among those discontinued in the new year. STC says the routes in question averaged only two or fewer passengers per trip, over the last five years.

The changes will have a direct impact on residents in Shaunavon and Sharon Zarry says there are a number of senior's in their community  that rely on that bus service for medical reasons. "We are in a very isolated corner of the province, the STC is one of our life lines and if this is taken away I dont know what's going to happen to our people who that do require service, but it's something people rely on during dire times".

The route cancellations are expected to save STC about $300,000 a year.
