The City of Swift Current has reviewed their rates charged for Community Services Facilities and residents can expect an increase.

This is standard practice for cities to review their rates every couple of years.

"This is our first review in a two years," said General Manager of Community Services Dean Robson. "We have increased it about 4% each of the last two years and this year it will be going up approximately 6%, some go up a little less some go up a little bit more depending on needs and wants. It will be 6% for September 1st, 2013 up until August 31st, 2014."

Robson added that they do take into consideration other cities of similar size as Swift Current but at the end of the day they have to charge enough to cover their recovery costs, operational costs and take into consideration revenues generated from some of the facilities.
