The City of Swift Current’s third Family Festival was a big hit yesterday, featuring a variety of games, snacks, and even some local celebrities.

The event kicked off at 9 a.m., inviting families from the southwest to gather at the Stockade Building for three hours of activities during the Christmas break.

Val Choo-Foo, the In-Motion community facilitator for the City counted around 200 families in attendance just before 11 a.m.

"We've had a great morning," she said. "We had a couple of Broncos and Charlie Horse here. Charlie, he's having lots of fun with all the games; I told Charlie Horse he cannot go in the bouncy house, he's just a little too big."

The Art Gallery of Swift Current had a popular table, with kids lined up to get their faces painted throughout the morning.

Multiple bouncy castles were set up, and the Southwest Newcomer Welcome Centre had crafts and giant board games set up around the facility.

When it came to the delicious snacks, Choo-Foo said Safeway stepped up and donated a variety of goodies that families got to enjoy for free.

"Canadian Tire...they donated some prizes," she added. "We have a prize draw. Everybody that's come in, they register and put their name in for great games that can be played with the family at home."

The City is already planning their next festival for the upcoming Easter holiday.

"Thank you to all of our partners who make this family festival possible and a success."
