The stage was set for the biggest game of the Graphic Edge Female Bantam AA Wildcats' season so far, and they rose to the occasion in resounding fashion.

Holding a narrow one-point lead over Regina for first place in the SFBAAHL, the Bantam Wildcats hammered that Rebels squad 6-2 in the provincial capital Wednesday night.

Swift Current struck first, just 21 seconds in off the stick of Ava Geissler. It took 17 minutes, but the Rebels responded with a quick pair of goals 30 seconds apart.

The Wildcats managed to draw even before the intermission, as Jerzey Watteyne found the back of the net with just 14 seconds remaining in the period.

Watteyne was back at it in the second frame - her second of the game was the second period's lone goal, coming with 2:53 left, to serve as the eventual game-winner.

The Bantam AA Wildcats extended their lead in the third period. Sadie Keller scored 3:35 into the final 20 minute frame. Goals from Kalei Johnston and Olivia Kirwan in the final five minutes put the game out of reach.

Swift Current extends their lead to three points over the Rebels, as they now own a 12-2-4 record on the season.

The test gets no easier this weekend for the Female Bantam AA Wildcats, who are on the road for a two-game set with the third-place Prince Albert Foxes (10-4-4).
