Flood waters are no longer flowing, but financial assistance is.

One week after the big flood struck southwest Saskatchewan, the province is putting money in the hands of those who are dealing with damage.

Yesterday, roughly 150 people affected got a preliminary payment of $3,000 from the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program.  People who haven't applied yet should expect to receive their advance within two weeks of filing their claim.

The province is calling these preliminary payments unprecedented.  Usually, people would wait 12 to 18 months to be reimbursed for flood damage.
