winter warning

A freezing rain warning that was in place for parts of the southwest has ended, but highways throughout the region are still very slippery.

The freezing rain was expected to fall this morning in the Shaunavon, Maple Creek, Val Marie, Cypress Hills, Leader and Gull Lake areas. Roads in those areas, and even in and around Swift Current are reported to be very icy.

Freezing rain warnings are in place for areas south of Moose Jaw including Gravelbourg and Assiniboia, and a snowfall warning is out for much of the rest of the province, including the cities of Regina, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, the Battlefords and Prince Albert, where up to 25 centimetres of snow is expected to fall into the weekend.

Snow will to continue to fall in the city today and tomorrow with up to 10 centimetres expected before Friday evening, and then temperatures will drop into the -20s for Saturday. For more local forecast details, click the local weather link on Swift Current Online.
