Last night it wasn't all ghouls and ghosts, as members of the community were out collecting food.

The drive was organized by the Trailview Alliance church, and the food was donated to the Swift Current Salvation Army.

The 2018 Halloween Food Drive was the largest on record according to Major Don Grad with the Swift Current Salvation Army who helped out at the event.

"Talking with people who have been involved with it for longer than I've been here, apparently this is the largest one-night collection that they've ever had, and I know that Dwayne Reimer who is the organizer with the Alliance church and a number of folks there, as well as folks involved with the collection were quite excited that the total reached that big a number."

The drive was completed by volunteers going door to door asking for donations of food.

The total amount of food collected during the one night drive was 16,467 pounds, or three trailers full.

Grad said that the food gathered from this donation would be put towards Christmas and beyond.

"The food will be used in the Salvation Army Food Bank, and much of this product will be used with our Christmas hampers, as well as this helps fill the food bank to get in a good position as we enter 2019, and into the springtime."

Grad estimated that around 200 people were out collecting food.
