Highland Park Under Construction

There will be some major construction at Highland Park in Swift Current's northwest.

Construction will start today on a new football and soccer field in the north end of the park.

Full Interview with Andy Toth"There was a open field up in Highland Park that was under utilized," said City Parks Manager Andy Toth. "So we felt that it was necessary to enhance on the soccer field there and turn into a full sized football field."

He added the bulk of the work will be bringing in fill, and will also shape the field and modify irrigation systems.

"We are fencing off the area but there is a lot of stakes for the cut and fills, so if people would just remain off of the field during construction time."

Construction of the field is expected to continue through the spring of 2013.
