The provincial Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure is getting set to kick off this year's road construction season.

$556.2 million has been budgeted for this year's work, with over 610 kilometres of improvements and 790km of repairs to our highways.

Spokesperson Kirsten Leatherdale says there are plenty of projects planned for the southwest this season, including a major one at Saskatchewan Landing, where they will grade and pave a new truck climbing lane along the southbound lane of Highway 4. She adds they will also work on Highway 13 near Hazenmore and Shaunavon, rebuild Highway 21 near Leader, and replace a bridge on Highway 1 near Rush Lake.

Leatherdale reminds drivers to always slow down to 60km/h in the Orange Zone, adding drivers can face stiff fines for speeding past construction workers.
