With the holiday season quickly approaching, the Shaunavon Chamber of Commerce is making some changes to holiday celebrations, as well as sticking to the traditional events.

Chamber of Commerce President, Garrett Thienes, said, "We've kind of taken that great Parade of Lights day and we're kind of re-branding it a Boomtown Christmas. And outside of everything you love, we've just decided to add a few things."

The annual holiday celebration will happen Saturday December 4 this year and will include horse drawn wagon rides, and a bingo, as well as the lighting of the community Christmas tree by Santa and Mrs. Claus as well as a performance by The Stayin Alive Choir,  the annual Parade of Lights, and up at the Recreation area following the parade there will be a bonfire and hot chocolate, an acoustic music performance and fireworks.

Thienes adds that by choosing to hold the events on a Saturday they can create an afternoon of Christmas shopping, followed by the Parade of Lights and the fireworks finale.
