Over a week into the nomination process for this fall's municipal election, and we only have one candidate for Mayor, and five for council.

"It seems strangely quiet, for a couple months leading up to an election, it seems the last few that I've been a part of have been quite vocal." Mayor Jerrod Schafer mentioned of being the only nominee. "We'll see what happens, we've got until September 19th for all nominations to come in, and then from there the race starts until the end of October."

While Schafer currently has no opponent, he encourages people to get involved as much as they can.

"If somebody is interested in learning about council, have a coffee with a current member of council, give myself a call if you're wondering about time commitment, things like that, any lingering questions there are."

The candidates for council are incumbents Dan Martens, Gord Budd, Denis Perrault and George Bowditch as well as newcomer Joe Collinson.
