KidSport's 3rd Annual 'Give the Gift of Sport' campaign has taken off, where all money raised goes directly to helping kids get enrolled in organized sports.

The national not-for-profit organization, which has local chapters in Swift Current, Gull Lake and Shaunavon, raised close to $20,000 for the program through the 2013 campaign, and Kendall Longtin, Community Consultant for KidSport, says they're hoping to make closer to $25,000 this year.

"That money goes directly to get kids participating in sports, 100% of our donations goes straight back to the kids. That's something we're really proud of as an organization and it really shows that that $20,000 will mean alot and put alot more kids into sport come 2015," she said.

Longtin adds the cost of enrolling a child in a full season of sport is roughly $250, and over the years, KidSport has supported over 450,000 kids.

"We always say 'sport is more than a game', and we see that definitely through KidSport applicants in these kids that the skills that they're learning from sport are so much more than just how to play and to have fun. We also know they're learning skills like teamwork, confidence, committment, sportsmanship, and all of these are essential life skills taking forward, so we really see the power of sport."

Donations can be made online until January 10th, 2015.
