The Leader capital expansion project is entering its final stretch for completion.

Brenda Schwan, is the executive transition lead continuing care for the Saskatchewan Health Authority, says that they're still on track for the facility to open in the summer of this year.

Schwan said that so far they have been able to open up a ten bed home, with another one on its way.

"As of today, we are undergoing renovations at the Western Senior Citizens home," she said. "So we have opened one of our new ten homes which opened in October. Now we're opening up our second ten bed home on January 29."

Schwan said with their only being six months until the completion date; they still have a lot to do.

"Right now, with the acute care and primary health care we are working on the interior," she said. "What will start to see happening over the next serval months is the painting and the flooring. The exterior cladding is going up right now so your starting to really see the shape and size and colour of the exterior of the building."

After the project is completed, the facility will be renamed the Leader and District Integrated Healthcare Facility and will be the sole location of all the community's health services.
