The Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities held its annual convention last week in Regina.

Cypress Hills MLA Wayne Elhard was on hand as a Cabinet Minister, and says it was well-attended with 1800 delegates registered.  He says the atmosphere and the mood among the delegates was considerably more positive than it has been for quite some time.  He attributes the high spirits to either the result of the improvement of the rural economy, or the change in government.

Main topics of discussion included the contentious issue of highways and infrastructure for the southwest, and the issue of environment and flooding for communities in the north.
