The Government of Saskatchewan has declared it missing persons week in the province.

According to a press release on the week, there are 125 long-term missing persons in the province.

The Government is inviting anyone who has been affected by missing persons to use Twitter to raise awareness of the impact that missing persons have on friends and family, and to tell the stories of those who are missing.

"These posts will form a collection of real Saskatchewan stories focusing on the struggle faced by families and friends of missing persons as they deal with the ambiguity of a missing loved one," Justice Minister and Attorney General Gordon Wyant said in a press release. "I would like to thank the Provincial Partnership Committee on Missing Persons for its work this year, and for everything it has contributed to this important issue since the committee was formed ten years ago."

Saskatchewan has been recognized internationally for its approach with missing persons with the Provincial Partnership Committee on Missing Persons. The committee involves police, government, first nations and community-based organizations to work together on how to prevent and offer support for missing persons cases.

Missing Persons week will run until May 6.
