Debate resumes today in the federal House of Commons on the controversial Motion 312. If passed it would strike a parliamentary committee to examine the 400-year-old definition of a human being in the Criminal Code’s homicide section concerning unborn children.

While the Prime Minister has stated his opposition to the motion.

Full Interview with David Anderson "Well we typically have had a few people from the other side, from the opposition who will support motions like that," said Cypress-Hills Grasslands MP David Anderson. "We will see what happens this time. Clearly it's going to be very close. Hopefully we will be able to pass this but realistically we kind of wonder if that's going to happen."

Anderson says it's not an attempt to re-open the abortion debate, but some opposition are calling it an attack on a women's right to choose.

"What it refers to is a 400 year old law from England that defines when human life begins and we just think it is a good time to take a look at it and study the science behind that," added Anderson. "So that's really what we are calling on parliament to do and hopefully parliamentarians will take that up. All it calls for is a study it doesn't call fro anything beyond that."

Today's debate will lead to a vote on September 26th.
