A lot of eyes on the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) negotiations as they continued this week in Montreal.

Negotiations surrounding the over-$1-trillion trade pact between three countries (Canada, United States, and Mexico) are struggling to make much progress as the United States pushes for big changes to the 1994 deal.

Jamie Pegg, the general manager of Honey Bee Manufacturing, said NAFTA, if approved, could help the manufacturing industry continue to experience growth.

"I think one thing that is very important that is on everybody's mind is the NAFTA agreement and getting that completed," he said. "I think there is an opportunity for Saskatchewan to grow in there. As people see the land that is available here, the openness that various centres have both rural and urban towards bringing business in."

The three countries are currently looking at adding an extra round of talks at the end of February in Mexico before the seventh and last scheduled round of talks takes place in Washington, D.C. at the end of March.
