Nine volleyball players from Swift Current have earned a place on their respective Team Sask provincial teams.

Seven have secured spots in the main rotation, with another two earning a spot as alternates spread over six different provincial team rosters.

Mackenzie McIntyre and Reese Evjen (alternate) cracked the women's Selects White (15U) team.

Avery Tonnies and Abby Sauder both made the women's Selects Green (16U) team.

Hannah Klassen made the women's Youth White (17U) team as an alternate.

Troy Vergara earned a spot on the men's Selects White (15U) team, while Shaye Wall found himself on the men's Selects Green (16U) team.

A pair of Swift Current Comp Senior Colts made the men's Youth Green (18U) team - Clay Thierman and Parker Bloom round out the Swift Current contingent.

The main tournament on the go for the nine athletes is mid-July's Canada Cup, held in Halifax this year from the 17-21.

For Tonnies, Sauder, and Wall, a chance to perform in front of the home town is on the horizon as well this summer.

The 16U teams will be a part of the Western Canada Summer Games in Swift Current. The volleyball schedule runs August 14-18, and is set to be played at the Innovation Credit Union iPlex.
