Oil production in Saskatchewan saw record numbers in 2013.

Production came out at a rate of about 487,400 barrels per a day over the past year, working out to a total of 177.9 million barrels. Drilling activity also saw record highs with a total of 2433 horizontal oil wells drilled.

"We're building upon strength, we're building upon a great resource, and we're seeing the technological advancements that are required to continue to develop our industry," said Saskatchewan Energy and Resources Minister Tim McMillan. "This is going to be very good sector of our economy, and a very stable and important part of our economy for a long time to come."

A total of 3371 oil wells were drilled in 2013, the third highest year on record.
