The Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team (STRT) made use of a search warrant on a Swift Current home, finding a variety of illicit drugs.

On November 29, officers entered the home and discovered around 42 grams worth of tablets, which were later determined to contain fentanyl and cocaine. Beyond the pills, nearly 4.6 grams of suspected fentanyl powder was found along with 2.3 grams of suspected methamphetamine. Other drug trafficking paraphernalia and some cash was also discovered.

Swift Current residents Samantha Nastuk and Derek Ruest were found in the home and arrested without incident. The pair are in their 30s, and Ruest has built up quite the rap sheet prior to this.

Both of the arrested are now being charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of trafficking, and one count of possessing the proceeds of crime less than $5000. Nastuk was also charged with one count of failing to comply with a release order.

Both 30-year-old Samantha Nastuk and 35-year-old Derek Ruest are scheduled to appear in Swift Current Provincial Court on December 4 at 9:30 a.m.

Swift Current Municipal and Rural RCMP, along with a K9 unit helped to complete the investigation.
