Pioneer Co-op will be adding a location in Swift Current.

The corporation has recently acquired the Husky gas bar, located on the corner of Sixth Avenue Northeast and South Service Road East.

This changing of hands for the gas bar means it will be operating as a Husky until May of this year. The plan is to then shut the location down for a week to rebrand it as a Pioneer Co-op service station.

Larry Kozun, CEO of Pioneer Co-op in Swift Current, is happy to bring even more options to their members.

"This location is a great fit for Pioneer Co-op to offer further services to this community," said Kozun. "With this addition, Pioneer Co-op is able to increase the use and capacity of the Co-op refinery complex in Regina. The addition of the service stations in Swift Current will ensure that the earnings from this location will remain in the southwest and will benefit our pioneer Co-op members."

The purchase of the Husky location is itself actually from Federated Co-op. Federated Co-op had acquired 171 Husky locations from Cenovus Energy. Afterwards, Pioneer was able to secure this location from Federated Co-op.

Along with the exterior renovations, some upgrades will be made to the interior. Badging and paint will be redone to follow Pioneer Co-op branding standards, and some devices that have previously fallen into disrepair will also be replaced or repaired.
