Shaunavon Businessman, Grant Greenslade, takes over the reins of Shaunavon Town Council following his election by acclamation on Wednesday.

He's looking to fill the shoes of past Mayor, Sharon Dickie, and has some definite plans on how he wants the community to move forward. He says, "For the most part, I think the Town has been running very well. We're fiscally responsible. We've got a good strong balance sheet. I would like to try to implement more of a cooperation with surrounding municipalities."

Maple Creek's Mayor, Barry Rudd, begins his third term on Town Council there following his win on Wednesday over Noy Lim and Tina Cresswell in the civic election.

Rudd says he's looking forward to working with the new Maple Creek Town Council and doing "business as usual.". He adds, "We have a business plan and a strategic plan  that the previous Council had set out, so we will continue on with that. And then welcome the two new Councillors into the group for sure to share some of their ideas and go on, really, with the day to day business."

Other Mayors in the southwest elected by acclamation on Wednesday were Blake Campbell in Gull Lake and Jesse Gordon in Eastend.
