The Cypress Health Region held their Primary Health Care Open House at the Shaunavon Hospital and Care Centre this past Monday afternoon.

Seventy-five people attended the event, including Cypress Hills MLA Wayne Elhard. Elhard shared that he thinks the Primary Health Care will be a great benefit to everyone in the area.

"Well Primary Health Care deals pro activity with a individuals health issues," said Elhard. "It also relieves pressure on the entire system so that the acute care services can be focused on individuals with acute and emergency care needs."

The Open House provided a chance for the public to hear more about what the primary health care model of care will offer and also gave them the opportunity to meet members of the Health Care team and to view the recently completed renovations.

"The requirements for primary health care are really preventive in nature," added Elhard. "So if people can take care of themselves in advanced age their requirements and their needs at the acute care level will be postponed."

The public was also provided with information relating to the mid-July availability of the nurse practitioners  and it was noted that the community's newest doctor,Dr. Rahmani, should be here in early August.
