Three more veterans in the southwest have been presented with quilts honouring their service.

Sonja Lidfors, Bob Fortin, and Colin Gustus were all presented with quilts by Marcie Erick at the Shaunavon cenotaph Wednesday afternoon.

Erick is the regional coordinator for Quilts of Valor, and said that the goal of Quilts of Valor is to present an ill or injured veteran that served there country, but said to her personally it's about recognizing local veterans.

"I like to prioritize our local veterans because that's where I'm from," she said. "I prioritize veterans that live with PTSD. I feel that when I take a quilt, and I can see how much it means to them, just to have it. It just makes me want to do it again, and again and I hope that even if it just makes a small part of their day better then I've done my job."

So far this year Quilts of Valor has presented 17 quilts.

Erick said that for her, and for everybody at and who helps the Quilts of Valor is just happy to help out veterans.

"It makes my heart happy to be able to do what I do," she said, "I think I have the best job in the world. I get to meet these heroes. I get to talk to them, get to shake their hand, get to give them a hug and I get to give them a gift of appreciation from all across Canada. Just to say thank you for what they've done and what they continue to do."

The Southwest Quilters Guild made two of the quilts with the third being made in Regina.
