Former Home Hardware Midget AAA Legionnaires captain Owen Ozar is the first of five players from the 2017-18 roster to kick off their first full Junior 'A' season.

Ozar was officially signed to the BCHL's Trail Smoke Eaters back in late-April, and kicked off 2018 main camp yesterday with practices - scrimmages run today, through to Thursday.

The Prince Albert product notched a combined 61 points (24 G, 37 A) in 49 total regular season and playoff games in 2017-18.

Ozar will look to fit in on the fly with a Trail squad that reached the competitive BCHL's league semi-finals this past season, after working a 32-21-4-2 record in the regular season.

Meanwhile, the Legionnaires' top-two scorers from the 2017-18 campaign are set for life in the AJHL for the upcoming season.

Forwards Hunter Lamb and Jacob Piller cracked the Lloydminster Bobcats roster ahead of main camp, after they each had prolific seasons, helping lead the Legionnaires to the league semi-finals.

Lamb led the team with 64 regular-season points (23 G, 41 A), and nine playoff points (1 G, 8 A), while Piller trailed closely with 63 points in the regular season (28 G, 35 A) and six post-season points (2 G, 4 A).

Lamb and Piller join fellow former Legionnaire Zach Ziegler (2015-17) at main camp later this month, looking to help the Bobcats improve on their 23-43-3-4 campaign, where they got swept in the first round of playoffs.

A pair of Legionnaires from last season are staying in-province for the start of their Junior careers.

Standout goaltender Cody Levesque, and defenceman Mkyllan Couture will be at the SJHL's Weyburn Red Wings main camp at the end of the month.

Levesque had the league's sixth-best save percentage (.920) in the regular season last year, also notching the eighth-lowest goals-against-average (2.51). He added a 2.60 GAA and .920 save-percentage in seven playoff starts.

For Couture, who was eligible to return to the Legionnaires for his final Midget AAA season, looks to help bolster the Red Wings' blueline after recording 20 points in 33 total games last season with Swift Current.

Weyburn went 29-23-5-1 in the regular season, getting swept by the Battlefords North Stars in the second round of playoffs.
