Communities around the province have been seeing an influx of new residents

1,063,535 people.

It's the highest our province's population has ever sat, following yet another quarter of growth. In fact, another 5,651 people made their way to Saskatchewan between July 1 and October 1 this year.

Premier Brad Wall says as our numbers get higher, his government will have to prepare for any potential problems that may come along with that.

"There are challenges that comes with population growth that we need to be prepared for. That's why we have a housing plan in place and are constantly seeking to improve it," says Premier Wall. "It's why we're focused on infrastructure and why we've been investing in it for the last 4 years. I think we'll see more of that investment in the budget as we want to be ready for the growth we are seeing."

In the latest report, it was indicated that Saskatchewan had the fastest growth rate of any other province in the last quarter and the second fastest this year, trailing only Alberta.

Wall's government has set a population goal of 1.1 million people by 2013.
