Groups and clubs looking to grab some new members this year won't want to miss City Wide Connection's deadline this Friday.

Every year, twice a year, the City of Swift Current runs an event designed to allow residents from in and around Swift Current to gather at the Stockade Building in Kinetic Park for an extracurricular fair.

Dozens if not more groups and clubs fill the old curling arena to try and recruit new members. City Wide Connection helps to unify newer members with the rest of the community, threw the fun and activities organised by locals in their respective endeavours.

This Friday will be the deadline for any groups looking to set up at the March 6 event. Brad Woods, partnerships and events coordinator for the City of Swift Current hopes a few more will book a booth before the week is over.

"It's an opportunity for nonprofit groups, businesses, organizations, and clubs to set up an information table at the Stockade out at Kinetic Park, so that people from the community, especially our new Canadians or people that have just moved to the community," said Woods.

Not only does it benefit community members when they come out to City Wide Connection, but it also benefits the groups that register to participate, as an avenue of meeting a different stream of individuals, outside someone's regular set of interactions.

"One of the things that is getting harder and harder is to find volunteers," noted Woods. "So this is a great opportunity that if you're interested in getting involved with the community as a volunteer, you can come walk down, see what some of these presenters have available."

Anyone looking to register their club, group, or organization can find the signup form on the City of Swift Current website.
