In anticipation for the car season to begin, another shop tour has come and gone in Swift Current.

This past Tuesday, gear grinders, petrol heads, and other cruisers all were invited to head out to Greg McKay's garage for a tour of his personal collection.

Running from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., the night idled warmly with conversation and community as the southwest car community came out for a night together.

Amongst those along for the ride was Bob Schafer, president of the SCDRA. He enjoyed the snacks and coffee, provided by Frosty Bean and Wendy Lynna Friesen.

"It was just a nice, nice evening where you could talk to guys and gals that have a similar interest in the car culture," said Schafer.

The tour showcased McKai's personal projects, along with his daily driver and current racing model.

Folks were welcome to come up and ask about any of these hotrods and to seek input or offer their own on projects.

After the cold weather all winter, these events offer an escape from the cold for those who prefer a hot day out on the drag strip.

"It's been a long winter and everybody's getting a little itchy to get out," laughed Schafer. "These little shop tours that Rogue Cruisers put on are just a nice way to break up that window and keep in touch with everybody."

Anyone else who wants to set up a tour of their shop, big or small, professional or hobby, can reach out to the Rogue Cruisers on their Facebook page.

"It's a real, unique and fun way to go into [a shop]," said Schafer. "We all have similar interests and it's just a good evening where a bunch of friends can get together, in or out of town. It's just a nice evening where everyone gets together."
