With each click of the shutter, the Swift Current SPCA moved closer to achieving their goal of finding a home for all of the furry animals in their care.

Yesterday afternoon they held their annual Santa Paws at Cowtown in downtown Swift Current.

Teresa Cole, Development Officer with the Swift Current SPCA, described the events past history and the future.

"It's been several years now that we've done this as a small fundraiser for the local SPCA, it's a very popular event for us so I think it's something we will continue to do every year," she said Saturday afternoon.

The event gave pet owners a chance to have their pets photo taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus, with all proceeds raised from the event going to the Swift Current SPCA.

Cole also spoke about her favourite part of the afternoon activity.

"It's so exciting to see the variety of different animals that come in, we usually have a few cats, and lots of dogs of all kinds of breads. Everybody is always so excited to have that opportunity to have that photo with Santa and Mrs. Clause," Cole said.

This years Santa Paws even saw their first pig, and were able to raised $580 for the Swift Current SPCA, a significant improvement from the $375 raised last year.
