This is the time of year for severe summer storms and tornados in Saskatchewan.

The Shaunavon Emergency Measures Organization will feature Warning Prepardness Meteorologist John Cragg at their Severe Weather Identification and Tornado spotting mini course on Saturday.

"I start talking about how the forecast gets produced by Environment Canada," Cragg explained, "what the difference between a watch and a warning is, and then I move into what to look out for in the sky, what kind of severe weather develops in the prairies, and then I talk about safety."

He will also be looking for storm spotters for this area that will report to Environment Canada.

"Environment Canada really relies on storm spotting reports for severe weather to help us put out watches and warnings, and also improve our forecasts in the future, so not only am I trying to help people stay safe, but I'm also trying to get them to help Environment Canada."

The mini course goes tomorrow from 9:30-12:30 with a lunch to follow.
