The Shaunavon Legion has reached a critical time.

"At the last general meeting, the members that were there and the executive decided that we have to eliminate some of our commitments," said Legion Executive Member, Brenda Waldron. "What it comes down to is our members are aging quickly. We don't have the man power and, it sounds selfish, but we have to look after ourselves first."

The local Legion will no longer be doing the School and out of Town Remembrance Services or the Poetry and Prose Contest at local schools due to a lack of volunteers and members able to do the work.

The Legion will be holding a meeting on Tuesday October 9th at 7:30 and they are asking all current members and persons interested in volunteering to help or becoming a Legion member to attend.

At this meeting they want to form a committee for the Poppy Drive and Remembrance Day Services in Shaunavon, and if that is not accomplished, Waldron added that that will be the end of the Legion in Shaunavon.
