It was a windy start to Easter weekend for southwest-Saskatchewan residents.

Envirnoment Canada's Warning Preparedness Meteorologist John Paul Cragg confirmed on Thursday evening the southwest region of the province had received wind gusts upwards of 85 kilometres per hour.

The strong winds continued Friday morning as gusts were recorded at approixmately 70 kilometres per hour.

The winds are expected to taper off by Saturday around noon, as the winds will decrease to 30 kilometres per hour.
