The Ford World Women's Curling event is serving as a learning experience for the upcoming hosts of the Canada Cup.

Brandon Manitoba will host the Canada Cup at the end of November and one of the organizers Jackie Nichol says attending the event in Swift Current is both a learning experience and a chance to encourage fans to come to Manitoba.

"As this is the end of the Curling Canada season and Swift Current is pretty close in proximity to us, we thought it was a good opportunity to get in front of curling fans within the region that may be looking at taking in more of these events and possibly heading our direction."

Nichol's says she has been trying to see some draws while here and the talent on the ice has been phenomenal. She adds that one thing she has learned is an events success relies on the community.

"This event has been just wonderfully done. Everybody here is so incredibly friendly and Curling Canada sure seems to know what they are doing. We have just learned that the more the community can embrace it the better off were going to be and Swift Current has certainly done that."

Although it has been a number of years since Brandon has seen a national event they are no stranger to holding prestigious curling events such as the Scotties, the  Brier and Olympic trails.

Nichol's adds that there is a strong curling following in South Western Manitoba and they are excited to host the event.
