This past Saturday Pet Valu held a fundraiser for the SPCA.

Chris Martens, board member, says it was a little last minute but they got a lot of good exposure through social media.

"It worked out really well for us we had two of our  puppies there, we had a third one come later on. One of them is currently on a test drive and I think one of the other ones is on a test drive as well so that being said, two of the three dogs we brought look like they may be getting adopted," said Martens.

Martens said that if they wouldn't have raised any money at all, just seeing the dogs get adopted would make the whole event worth it for the SPCA.

Saturday night the SPCA also had a donation table at the first annual Earl Monkman Memorial Boxing Card.

Earl Monkman was a huge shelter supporter and rescued a number of dogs from the SPCA so it made sense that they would have a donation table at the boxing card.

"We got some good exposure there too and we did well on that when and all and all throughout the day we raised about $1100 for the shelter which is our main goal right now," said Martens.
