For the past eleven years the City of Swift Current has challenged its residents to strengthen their mental and physical health routines with a fun competition.

The Wellness Challenge has an added twist this year, stepping up the level of playful rivalry, according to In-Motion Community Facilitator Val Choo-Foo.

“The town of Shaunavon is going to join, so they'll be following the same Wellness Challenge,” she said. “They'll keep track of their teams, their points, and at the end we're going to figure out the highest average of points between the two towns.”

Participants sign up with teams of five or more people and track daily activity and weekly challenges to gain points. The team with the most points at the end of the four-week competition will win a grand prize.

Individuals and smaller groups are more than welcome to sign up but won’t be entered in the final draw—however they’ll be eligible to have their name chosen for weekly prizes.

“The greatest prize of all is your Health and well-being,” added Choo-Foo. “It's going to be keeping track of daily Wellness Points in the areas of nutrition, physical activity, water, sleep and mental health.”

The deadline to sign up for the fun challenge is January 15 and can be done by emailing v.choofoo@swiftcurrent.ca with a team name, captain, and number of participants.
