The SaskTel Tankard Provincial Men's Curling Championship kicked off Wednesday in Shaunavon, with the Opening Ceremonies held just after the wrap-up of the first draws of the day.
MC Wendy Thienes introduced guest speakers including Tankard Co-Chairs Patsy Bailey and Barry Sonen, as well as representatives from the Town of Shaunavon, CurlSask and SaskTel.
The Green Braes Pipe and Drum Band from Swift Current piped in the curlers and dignitaries and the Crescent Point Wickenheiser Centre saw a large crowd out to also take advantage of I Love Shaunavon Day.
Local Curlers Ken Shaw and Bob Wilkins held the broom and threw the first rock to officially begin the Tankard.
Action continues today with draws at 8:30am, 3:00pm and 7:00pm.
