Changes in market conditions have led to more layoffs at MODUS Structures in Swift Current.

Randy Ludwar, CEO of the MODUS Group of Companies, says due to a lack of work presently available to put into their Swift Current MODUS Modular Plant, they had to initiate a temporary, 26-week layoff at the facility. Thirty-seven employees at the plant received layoff notices that will take effect next month, which will leave the plant non-operational.

Ludwar adds they are working to secure more projects for the plant, so that there will be work at the plant after the 26-week layoff ends.

Ludwar says they thank the staff for being patient with them, adding the downturn in the economy hasn't helped them, but they are going to be getting more work, and there will be a lot of people working there again shortly.

The layoffs will not affect Clear Choice Windows, MODUS' other operation in Swift Current.
