CIBC has been the title sponsor for The Run for the Cure-Canadian Cancer Society for the past 24 years.

The CIBC Run for the Cure is traditionally held the first Sunday in October nationwide.

Sunday October 4 was the date for this year, which due to COVID restrictions was held virtually.

This was also the first year that Swift Current was part of it.

Matthew Johnston is the Manager of the CIBC Branch in Swift Current. He said the Run was a great success.

Johnston said that their local Swift Current Team and family and friends took to the path where they walked a total of five kms.

The community joined forces with Maple Creek, Eston and Kindersley and together raised an estimated $2,100 through fundraising initiatives such as Perogy Sales, donations, Shoe Sales and their Sarcan Drop and Go.

The Drop and Go will remain open throughout the year, giving them a head start towards next year's fundraising.

Nationally, the CIBC Run for the Cure raised an estimated 8.5 million dollars.
