The provincial government announced they are extending the application deadline for the Re-Open Saskatchewan Training Subsidy. The original deadline was December 31st of last year, and it has been moved to March 31st of this year.

The subsidy was started in June of last year. It is a temporary training subsidy for eligible employers to help cover the costs of training employees as they adjust to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The subsidy reimburses eligible businesses 100 percent of the costs to train employees, up to a maximum of $10,000 per business.

“This program has been another important tool to support Saskatchewan businesses as they work through the global COVID-19 pandemic,” Immigration and Career Training Minister Jeremy Harrison said in a written release. “With significant uptake to this point, we want to extend the deadline to give more businesses the opportunity to access this program as we continue with our economic recovery efforts.”

Response to the program has been strong, with more than 600 applications approved last year, committing $2.5 million to businesses in the province.
