With kids getting ready to head back to school in the coming weeks, the Salvation Army and Staples are teaming up to help those in need.

Their goal is to collect 110 backpacks filled with school supplies to help children and families for the upcoming school year.

"We look at finding the children in need of help with their school supplies and Staples collects the donations," said Sandra Brong, the community and family-services coordinator with the Salvation Army. "We then assemble the backpacks together for everybody and this year our goal is 110."

Earlier this week the Salvation Army noted they're still very low on donations, with backpacks being the biggest need.

The Salvation Army will be handing out the backpacks people have dropped off at Staples to children in need on Friday.
