Last night was the premiere of the first video in a new series put together by the Drug Strategy Action Committee.

Board Member from the committee Andrea Miller provides details on their latest venture.

"We recorded a series of videos from local people sharing their experiences with substance abuse. And so it's a really moving series and we are really excited about it."

The video premiere coincided with the fact that it is National Addictions Awareness Week.

Miller details the purpose behind this latest venture.

"We want to give people a place to go, a place for people to share information and that's what those videos do is offer hope. Lot's of us have this story or have walked this road and we want people to know there's hope, there's a place to go and there are people who will understand and support you."

Miller adds that the overall goal is to raise some awareness about addictions, reduce stigma, and increase education on harm reduction.

Saskatchewan saw 336 drug toxicity deaths in 2020 which is more than twice the number recorded the previous year.
