Saskatchewan has entered the high-risk period for the West Nile Virus, but so far it has been quiet.

The Ministry of Health says, no positive mosquito pools that were infected with the virus have been reported in the province, and no human cases of the virus have turned up.

According to the West Nile Risk Levels map on the Ministry's website, much of the province is at a minimal risk rating, including the Cypress Health Region.  The south central and southeast areas are under a high risk.

Officials do warn that a minimal risk doesn't mean "no risk".  They ask everyone to protect themselves from mosquito bites by wearing appropriate clothing and insect repellent.
