The exact numbers aren't in yet, but Swift Current's 79th-annual Frontier Days drew a ton of people from not only Swift Current, but around the prairies and some from abroad as well.

The events celebrating western heritage ran Wednesday morning through Canada Day-Saturday night.

Things kicked off on Day 1 with a pancake breakfast and the burning of the brand at Market Square, and right off the bat it felt like it would be a well-attended Frontier Days.

Kinetic Park was home to a lot of the action from the rodeo (which ran Thursday night, Friday night and Saturday afternoon) to a number of rides and games at the fair, to concerts Saturday-night concerts by Aaron Goodvin and Sawyer Brown and finally a fierce display of fireworks.

There was plenty of music coming through the speakers during the Frontier Days, as Wednesday night also had music with Vancouver group Washboard Union pumping out some country tunes.

Lenora Bell is the event development coordinator for Swift Current Ag and Ex, which puts on Frontier Days, and she was really impressed with the amount of people that took in the action.

"The 4H steer sale went really well (at Kinetic Park on Saturday). It was highly attended and went on for quite a few hours," said Bell.

The rodeo clown was surveying the crowd on Saturday asking people where they came from, and some that travelled the furthest were a group from South Africa.

"All three rodeos were extremely well attended, especially on Saturday. Now I don't know the numbers yet, but I'm pretty sure it's one of the highest-attended rodeos we've had for a couple years," Bell said. "It was just really, really well done. It was exciting, I think the spectators enjoyed it and we just had perfect weather for it."
