Severe weather has been a common sight in Saskatchewan this summer, and more storms hit the province Thursday.

Environment Canada had severe thunderstorm watches stretching border-to-border along a line from Meadow Lake to Hudson Bay and all the way south to the US Border. Tornado watches were also in effect for parts of southern Saskatchewan, including the Regina, Moose Jaw, Estevan, Weyburn and Yorkton areas. Funnel clouds were reported around Moose Jaw and Grenfell, but there's no confirmation on if they did become tornadoes.

Another storm system hit west-central Saskatchewan hard. A local state of emergency was declared in North Battleford after two inches of rain and pea-sized hail fell in one hour. The storm flooded homes in the east side of the city, as well as several streets and intersections. The city is now the latest community in Saskatchewan to be hit with flash flooding this summer, following Maple Creek, Saskatoon and Yorkton.

There were no reports of any serious storms around the southwest, however warnings were issued around Maple Creek in the late afternoon after a storm capable of heavy rain and large hail moved in. The warnings ended about an hour later.

More thunderstorms are possible tonight and tomorrow, but sunshine and temperatures in the mid- to high-20s are expected this weekend. For the latest forecasts, click the weather link on swiftcurrentonline.com.
