The Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats wrapped up 2013 on a winning note beating the Calgary Flyers 4-0 at the Mac's female Midget AAA tournament yesterday.

The Wildcats wrapped up the tournament 3-1, but did not advance to the playoffs.

They knew their fate before the game.

"We responded very well," said Coach Terry Pavely. "We came out hard and got the early lead. One of the things we worked on this year if when we have a lead how do we play. We found a way to step on the gas pedal when we got a lead."

"It was good to get a 4-0 win against a good hockey team."

Kate Scidmore, Jessica Pele, Brenna Thomson and Dayna Winzer scored for the Wildcats.

Brooklyn Weisgerber made 19 saves for the shutout.

Pavely was overall very pleased with how they performed against some of the best teams in the country.

"We'll take a lot away from this week," he said. "Played maybe the best team in Western Canada to a 3-2 game. Hopefully even though we lose we gain some confidence from playing some of the top teams."

The Wildcats don't play a league game again until January 18th.
