The City of Swift Current Fire Department had to rescue a boy from the Swift Current Creek near the Riverside Park weir yesterday afternoon at around 5:00pm.

The fire department says the boy was floating over the weir when he fell out of the raft he was in.  He got caught in the undertow of the swirling water and could not escape.

Fire officials say it's a reminder to everyone to be very careful around the Swift Current Creek because of the swollen water levels and fast-flowing currents.

The boy was treated for minor injuries on site and released.
